A Quick Course in Forgiveness Meditation

Marshaling up genuine compassion for those who have wronged us, instead of allowing anger toward them, eating away at us requires forgiveness.  Initially you may find this hard to do but it’s a powerful way to reduce self-inflicted negative emotions that are destroying both your health and happiness.

Forgiving yourself is another aspect of the forgiveness practice that must not be overlooked. Once more, to improve your own health, enjoy peace of mind and learn to forgive yourself.

Meditation is an excellent step to begin the healing process. Depending on how deep rooted the negative emotions are that you are holding means you may have to repeat this mediation several times for positive lasting results.

Sit in the lotus position (on the floor with legs folded) or in an upright chair with a back support. With your spine straight, hands on your lap, feet placed firmly on the floor (not crossed) close eyes and breathe in slowly to the count of five, through your nose and out to the count of five, through your nose. (breathe to the count of: in - 101, 102, 103, 104, 105. And out - 101, 102, 103, 104, 105.)  Be alert and relaxed. Take five of these breaths.

Now with eyes still closed turn your inner glaze towards your heart and place one hand over your heart,

your fourth chakra, the heart charka. Next, think of the name of the person you want to forgive. Can you

both hold their name and picture them in your mind? It might well be your own name you could be working with.

Should your mind wander, gently bring it back to your breath and keep the name of the person and their image

you want to forgive in mind. On the inhalation mention the person name and picture that person in your mind.

On the exhalation silently repeat, “I truthfully want to forgive……….. (name) and see the picture fade from your mind.

Repeat but on the next inhalation mention the person name and picture the person. On the exhalation

silently repeat, “I completely forgive………..(name) and see the picture fade from your mind.

Do the above for a repetition of five times. Thank yourself for taking the time to do this healing mediation. Repeat the mediation as necessary.

Thank yourself for taking the time to practice this forgiveness mediation.

Peace.
